In America, do builders call the hollow in the top of a brick a 'frog'?

Here in the UK, we call the hollow in the top of a brick a 'frog'. Is that true also in the US? And is the other lingo of building also the same? Is a brick, for example, 'ered' with mortar, and 'tapped down' to level with the 'heel' of the trowel? Do Americans talk about a 'string line'?
