Acer laptop display problems?

the other day while I was using my laptop and the display flickered and then the bottom 2/3 of the screen went grey and I can not see anything underneath the grey portion. When I connect an external display, the external display works fine. If Ido something that causes the laptop display to have to cut off and then back on, the display is fine for a split second then it goes grey on the bottom 2/3 again. Is there anything that I can do to repair this myself? The laptop is only 24 days old.
